ISKA Kickboxing/Muaythai Instructor Course Level 1 & 2 2012

Last week I went to Borneo Combat Gym, Labuan, for my ISKA Instructor Course - Level 1.
ISKA level 1 Instructors, batch 2012. (L-R) Coach Jacky, Sharon, Wong, Myself, Nate, Master Khoo (our trainer who is Asia's ISKA representative and owner of TNTKickboxing), Sid, Alvin, Adey, Calvin, and Aaron.

It was a tough and challenging course requires alot of physical and mental focus. We all came from different background, places, and objective to get this course perhaps. But one thing for sure about us that we never quit.

The course started off with the most basic part, to do handwraps by yourself and to teach others. We also receive a pair of free handwraps of Master Khoo's brand - Red Dragon.
Besides being a coach, we also get to play as a student. Having an adequate amount of stamina is not an option.
Despite being scolded hard by Master Khoo, all of us endured and passed the test.

He may be strict, but he's a very fun guy. Most importantly he really help us by sharing all his experiences as a coach and showed us the essence of being a good coach.

And I was told to be the first female in Sabah to get certified as a ISKA Kickboxing level 1 coach.
Coach Alvin gave me a present, sewing it on my Fairtex muaythai pants :)
This course had not just improve my knowledge on new class syllabus and techniques but also help me discover and bring out the energy from within. It has been a self-improvement and will continue as a life learning point.

Coach Julian and Randall went for Level 2 upgrading after my test the next day.
Much more harder than Level 1, I better keep in mind before going for level 2 next year.

And they (Level 2 participants) all passed too! Plus, Coach Alvin just got his Level 4, which means the next upgrade would be train and evaluate by him.

Kinabalu Fighters team with Master "Red Dragon" Khoo.
Would like to thank everyone who supported me since I became a Fitness Instructor. You guys, from all walks of life, are true motivators.

I look forward to my upgrade in the future, as for now, continuous improvement! Here I come!

SlimKicker - Turn your Weight-Loss journey into a fun game!

Introducing SlimKicker, a website and app which objective is to motivate people with weight lost or/and fitness goals.

Similiar to Fitocracy, it tracks your exercises but feels like this is more motivating for people who like to lose weight as it has food logs, which Fitocracy don't.

Hehe, my next reward when I reach level 2: ZenQ's Green Tea Shaved Ice!!!
You can upload a picture of your reward when you reach your next level/goal. Very motivating!

Since last year July 13th, Christine (one of the team which made SlimKicker.com happen) emailed me to give her insights and opinion about the idea of a fitness game website/app.

Now am looking forward to the app for Android (which they are working on it).

I strongly suggest anyone who is on a weight loss/ slimming journey to utilize this!

Personal Training with Jna

A little introduction regarding "personal training" by yours truly, especially to those who wants to experience the results, success and happiness they get from fitness.

Heidi Klum and her personal trainer, David Kirsch.
Personal training is a service by a trainer to a client who are in need for guidance, motivation, and support towards their fitness (and wellness) goals.

Yea yea yea, you don't want tl;dr. Okay, I'm won't go essay writing for this post (but when I do, I'd make sure its legit) but I'll just briefly let you know what's happening during the sessions.

Liz, one of my lovely client ;) she had knee surgery before and it ain't stopping her to train.
I always start with the first session with a brief talk, regarding client's goals, whether they are general or specific goals e.g. aesthetics, fitness, gain knowledge, lifestyle improvement, etc. Then,I will conduct a fit test on all clients, to check on their fitness level so I can proceed with customizing programs for each client to meet their goals.

Everyone deserves to be fit. This is the reason why I train in the first place.

Specialties:

·        Toning & Shaping
·        Healthy weight loss
·        Lean build program for custom for both men and women
·        Cardio/ Circuit/ Interval/ Core Stability/ Plyometrics/ HIIT
·        Athletic & Sports specific - conditioning
·        Low Impact for joint care
·        Lifestyle Improvement

Drop me a line at CoreFitness, City Mall if you would like me to guide you personally towards above results . 088-448119

Happy Holidays! Welcome 2012 - Weekend break Notice

Here to wish all a Happy New Year and Holidays in advance.
This week's notice:
NO PUSH class for 31st Dec 2011 - 1st Jan 2012

Although there won't be PUSH class, please do some exercise and eat right to kick start. It's time to review your current fitness goals and setting for next year.

Some tips to help you setting next year's fitness goals:
1. Lean Body Lifestyle's setting SMARTER goals.
2. Do HIIT as a challenge if you've been doing long hours cardio and see no difference.
3. Look for me at CoreFitness if you're interested in membership and personal training. I will be a full-time personal trainer there starting 3rd January 2012. I'm very grateful for this opportunity to join the Energy team.
4. Join Cruz Fitness + Fight Studio, Putatan especially if you stay around that area. You may consult gym owner, Faye, and the rest of the instructors there.

Next post, I'll blog about my fitness goals here for 2012. A tease - one of them is to become ACE certified personal trainer by graduating from FIT Malaysia.

Jna, why become a trainer?

Tuesday, I had my first trainer session at Core Fitness and today the second along with two new PT recruits, Konea & Li.  You must be thinking "Wait, what? CORE FITNESS?!?!"

Okay, no surprises. Next month (year), officially will become a Personal Trainer at Core.

I'm so damn excited, I don't know why. Perhaps, its the passion that kicks in.

So as to relate to the title for today, Sam (Core's Managing Director) throw a question for us to ask OURSELVES - Why become a trainer?

This is my answer: I want to train people because everyone deserves to be fit.
It has now, become my life purpose.

Very grateful started off as a PUSH Instructor at CFF and moving on to grow more at Core to help build the fitness industry in KK.

No worries, PUSH classes will still be available at CFF during my offdays at Core, no matter how busy I will be (I will still be teaching part-time 1 subject at Pine, my current job as a lecturer, which I left full-time to go into fitness). Lecturing is awesome, I figure since at my current age I should explore more on other kinds of passion, which obviously fitness plays a major role here.

Alright PUSH class for this weekend!
2 Hours Special Series - Station Circuit 33 & HIIT it!
Sunday 2pm-4pm

18th December 2011

Come soak in sweat, feel the burn, and get fitter! All at Cruz Fitness + Fight Studio, next to KFC Putatan.
